While we love to empower and inspire, sustenance comes from feasting on the Word. The words, insights and tools we might share on our page are resources, God and the Word is THE source. In the words of Bob Hamp, “we become what we absorb.” Psalm 119:105 declares, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light to my path.” (ESV). Hebrew 4:12 reads, “For the word of God IS alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing the soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (ESV).” John 8:31-32, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”
Can we say deep?
So, you might be thinking, “You mean the word of God can help with guidance and wisdom for my path? When it comes to the hard things that I am facing on my freedom journey, reading the Word can help to penetrate to the core of who I am? Wait, I heard somewhere in scripture that the word was God? If that’s the case then according to John 8:31-32, abiding in scriptures (the word) means I’m also abiding in Him? Cool!”
Yes. Yes and Yes!
Just start somewhere. Because we are all in different seasons. Whether you are in a season with plenty of time on your hands and can write out your scriptures daily, do that! You might be in a season of motherhood and the only time you can find is when your baby is asleep, do that! You might travel for work and can only find time on the plane, do that! You might be in Corporate America and you can only find time during lunch breaks, do that! When we begin to compare how the next person is reading the Word, we absolutely miss the point of why we are reading scriptures in the first place. It’s not a competition of who knows more, it’s about getting to know Him above all else, which leads to Him speaking specifically to you.
