Where is your fight?

“…and you know that you have been beckoned toward a story that is LARGER than the one you have been living.”

It’s been awhile since I have blogged, but my personal journal has been full. So many life lessons and so many things God is doing in me and around me, since the beginning of the year. I love seeing people find out what God has called them to do. I love seeing people in new seasons. And I love seeing people free. SIDE-NOTE: There are times when I am compelled to write, there is this sense of urgency that I cannot explain. There can be down-falls of being a sensitive person, but the beautiful part of it is the burden you may feel for people you know or don’t know. My earnest prayer is that if this is for you and the season you are in, that this will bless you.

I have had the pleasure and honor of doing monthly meet-ups with some incredibly inspiring women. The latest meeting, I left feeling very heavy. I realized that I have assumed that I have been walking by Faith, but in reality I have believed God for very little. That the things I have believed Him for, are things that I can attain in my own strength, in my own will, and in my own way. I find myself living out of a “role” that I assigned myself to. Accepting what I see now as all that there is to see, instead of believing God for greater. Maybe you can relate? Maybe you have been tucking things He has placed in your heart away, for the “maybe-someday.” And this becomes your life story - maybe. Or I want to do that - someday. I absolutely believe in God’s timing, but I also believe we can also hide behind out of fear of all that can be.

God speaks to me greatly when I am driving, which I have penned as my “car-moments.” This past weekend, the word fight came to my heart, followed by, “Where is your fight?” What I believe is that sometimes we don’t believe God for greater, because we have given up the fight. Don’t you know that anything worth having WILL be a fight? Don’t you know there is a real enemy who does NOT want you to receive all the things God has for you? So instead of fighting, we retreat. We sulk, we complain, we watch life from the sidelines instead of getting in the game. And we live out of the same mindset, year, after year, after year.

You guys, God has given us authority. In Luke 10:19 it reads, Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Authority is the ABILITY or strength with which one is endued, which he either possesses or exercises. Yes, God has given us authority, but we must do our part to exercise it. My parent’s story will forever be my favorite. They came from Nigeria before my brothers and I were even born, to pave the way for their future family. They have suffered, they have cried and they eventually overcame. They had a dream and a vision and they fought to get to America.

That dream you have? FIGHT.

For the healing to come? FIGHT.

For reconciliation in a marriage/friendship/community? FIGHT.

For restoration? FIGHT.

Career and Purpose? FIGHT.

I don’t know the specifics of what you may be enduring, but I honestly pray that God meets you where you are. I pray that you will pick back up, what God never told you to lay down. I pray that you won’t fight in your own strength, but in the authority given to you by the ONE. I pray that God will overwhelm you with what He has for you. And I pray that you will tangibly see His faithfulness in regards to you.

Fighting with you,
